Anno 2049. Dopo gli eventi narrati nel primo film, i replicanti Nexus hanno iniziato a ribellarsi e ne è stata messa al bando la produzione; la Tyrell Corporation, la più importante azienda che li produceva, ha dichiarato bancarotta. Questo ha portato ad una crisi di livello globale, finché Niander Wallace e le sue industrie si sono spianati la strada producendo colture sintetiche rivelatesi necessarie per la sopravvivenza del genere umano, evitando colossali carestie, e reintroducendo i replicanti nella società, dopo aver rilevato ciò che rimaneva della Tyrell ed iniziato a produrre nuovi replicanti che sono assolutamente ubbidienti e non creano problemi. Alcuni replicanti Nexus 8 ribelli sono però ancora in circolazione, pertanto, per evitare nuovi conflitti e tumulti da parte loro, il corpo speciale di polizia dei Blade Runner è mantenuto attivo, con l'obiettivo di "ritirare" i vecchi modelli. <br>L'agente K è un replicante di ultima generazione ed è uno dei nuovi Blade Runner. Il film comincia con K che ha l'incarico di rintracciare un vecchio replicante di nome Sapper Morton, un ex medico militare disertore il quale vive da solo in una fattoria. K lo rintraccia e, dopo un'estenuante lotta, lo "ritira". In seguito, l'agente trova una scatola sepolta sotto un albero morto nei pressi dell'abitazione di Sapper. K torna al suo appartamento dove ad attenderlo c'è Joi, un'intelligenza artificiale olografica comandata da un braccio elettromeccanico, programmata per essere l'amante ideale. K aggiorna Joi grazie ad un emulatore datogli come bonus per il suo lavoro, rendendola in grado di andare dove desidera. Mentre Joi prova la sua nuova capacità uscendo fuori dell'abitazione, K viene informato che l'oggetto sepolto è stato recuperato e aperto, e al suo interno è stato trovato uno scheletro. Gli analisti del LAPD ricostruiscono che si tratta di una replicante Nexus morta a seguito di complicazioni durante un taglio cesareo (fatto probabilmente da Sapper per salvarla). Joshi, il capo di K, è sconvolta dal ritrovamento, in quanto non si credeva che i Nexus fossero capaci di accoppiarsi e riprodursi, e quindi ordina di eliminare qualsiasi prova del ritrovamento, intimando a K di trovare e ritirare il figlio replicante, poiché la notizia potrebbe creare un'instabilità nell'ordine tra umani e replicanti. <br>K si presenta alla sede della Wallace Industries, dove il personale identifica lo scheletro ritrovato come quello di Rachael, replicante creata dalla ex Tyrell Corporation che ebbe una relazione con il Blade Runner Rick Deckard, scomparso con lei dal 2019, tuttavia non si riescono ad ottenere maggiori informazioni poiché nel 2022 il mondo fu colpito da un black-out totale che durò dieci giorni, a seguito del quale molte informazioni contenute nei database e negli apparecchi tecnologici sono andate perdute per sempre. Il fondatore della società, Niander Wallace, crede che i Nexus capaci di riprodursi possano essere il prossimo passo nella sua produzione e favorire l'espansione delle colonie extramondo, popolate da soli androidi, e quindi ordina a Luv, la sua replicante tirapiedi, di rubare i resti di Rachael dalla stazione di polizia e di pedinare K in modo da risalire al figlio replicante. K ritorna alla fattoria di Sapper e nota, incisa sull'albero morto, la data 6/10/21, che coincide con l'incisione presente su un cavallino di legno presente in un ricordo che gli è stato innestato. K si reca nel luogo in cui è ambientato questo ricordo, un orfanotrofio a San Diego, ritrovando il giocattolo nel posto dove lo aveva nascosto da bambino, e credendo quindi che l'impianto potrebbe essere un vero ricordo del suo passato, ipotesi avvalorata anche da Joi. <br>Tempo prima, K aveva controllato le nascite avvenute nel giugno del 2021, scoprendo un'anomalia: Rachael ha apparentemente dato alla luce due gemelli che condividono lo stesso DNA di sesso opposto, e pare che solo il maschio sia ancora vivo. K si reca quindi dalla dottoressa Ana Stelline, che lavora come creatrice di ricordi da innestare ai replicanti prodotti dalla Wallace Industries e che, dopo averlo informato che è illegale innestare ai replicanti memorie vere appartenute agli umani, gli conferma piangendo che si tratta di un ricordo reale, inducendolo così a credere di essere lui stesso il figlio della Nexus morta. Dopo avere fallito un test sulla sua natura di replicante, K viene sospeso da Joshi, lasciandogli intendere che ha portato a termine la missione, cioè ritirare il bambino, che è lui stesso. La stessa Joshi, per compassione, lo lascia andare. <br>K prosegue l'indagine per conto proprio e fa analizzare il cavallino di legno: in esso vengono trovate tracce di radioattività, che lo conducono alle rovine post-apocalittiche di Las Vegas. Qui K ritrova Deckard, il quale rivela all'agente di aver aiutato i Nexus a nascondersi sfruttando le sue conoscenze da ex-cacciatore e di aver alterato le date di nascita per coprire le loro tracce, venendo costretto a lasciare Rachael con un gruppo di replicanti rivoluzionari per la sua sicurezza. Alla domanda di K sul perché non abbia cercato suo figlio, Deckard risponde che ha fatto tale scelta per paura di metterlo in pericolo, e che comunque a causa del blackout del 2022 la cosa gli risultò impossibile. Nel frattempo Luv uccide Joshi e rintraccia K. Nello scontro Luv distrugge sadicamente Joi, lasciando K in fin di vita, e rapisce Deckard. K viene soccorso dal gruppo rivoluzionario, condotto da Freysa, che lo informa che il vero erede di Rachael e di Deckard è Stelline, in quanto solo lei poteva essere capace di impiantare i propri ricordi nella sua mente. Freysa ordina a K di uccidere Deckard affinché egli non fornisca a Wallace informazioni sul movimento. <br>Deckard viene condotto dinanzi a Wallace, il quale ipotizza che l'amore tra lui e Rachael fosse stato unicamente un esperimento del dottor Tyrell e che lei e Deckard fossero stati creati l'uno per l'altra allo scopo di verificare se i Nexus prodotti dalla Tyrell fossero capaci di riprodursi. Deckard rifiuta di rispondere alle domande di Wallace o di aiutarlo, anche quando gli viene presentata una copia replicante di Rachael, e perciò Luv lo conduce in una zona extramondo per torturarlo al fine di estorcergli informazioni. K però li raggiunge e attacca il convoglio di Luv con il suo spinner, facendolo precipitare in mare vicino alla muraglia che protegge la città dalle inondazioni. Dopo un violento combattimento K riesce ad uccidere Luv, annegandola, e porta in salvo Deckard, rivelandogli che per proteggerlo lo darà per morto come vittima dello schianto. Deckard viene condotto da K al palazzo di Stelline, dove finalmente si ricongiunge con la figlia, mentre K, rimasto ferito gravemente dallo scontro finale, muore sdraiato sulla scalinata della struttura con lo sguardo rivolto al cielo nevoso.

The back of K's jacket gets dirty during the fight before reaching the orphanage and then is completely clean when inside the orphanage. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Deckard locks the door and runs to where his Spinner is parked, the position of his dog relative to him changes between shots. First, the dog is ahead of him when he locks the door, then behind him as Officer K bursts through the wall, then the dog vanishes when the Spinner explodes. <br>------------------------<br><br>After the scene where K finds the wooden horse inside the furnace, we cut to Joi and K back at their apartment. During their conversation, Officer K's arms change position, from resting on his lap, to his clenched fists being used to support his chin, between shots. <br>------------------------<br><br>In Sapper Morton's kitchen, in the wide shots at the start of the scene, the flame under the pot is on full . Later, when the pot is in the foreground, the flame is much lower. At the end of the scene, as K opens the lid and smells the garlic, the flame is medium-high. <br>------------------------<br><br>When K is at Dr. Ana Stelline and he kicks the stool over, you can see the reflection of Ana sitting straight and looking to the left at the stool. When the camera pans over to her again, you still see her sitting hunched over and crying. <br>------------------------<br><br>When in Lt. Joshi's office, after discovering the bones are from a pregnant replicant, Lt. Joshi has her back to the wall and while talking to K. She steps forward saying "Are you telling me no?". When the camera returns to her three seconds later she is back against the wall. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Officer K says to Deckard, "Look, I don't want to hurt you..." he is extending his right arm towards Deckard. In the next shot when K says "... but you're not making it easy." his left arm is extended towards Deckard, with his right arm resting at his side. <br>------------------------<br><br>When K meets the 3 hookers, there are lots of foreign language ads all around, one of them is for Coca Cola but in Hebrew. The letters flash on and off and then light each letter individually. The order in which they light up is left to right, and not as it should be, since it's Hebrew, right to left. <br>------------------------<br><br>The first song listed ("Summer Wind"), is displayed as "Perfromed by Frank Sinatra" instead of "Performed by Frank Sinatra". <br>------------------------<br><br>At the end of the film when K leans back against the steps, you can see an indention in the snow where his elbow is about to be placed, leading one to believe that this is a continuity error and that the indentation is from a previous take. However, if you look as he sits down, he places his hand on the step to lower himself down, creating the indentation where his elbow will later rest. <br>------------------------<br><br>The Memory Bearings are optical devices, so how were they affected by the Blackout of 2022, which was caused by an electro-magnetic pulse ? The memory bearings are read optically, but we can only guess how they are written, and edited ; a punched card is also read optically, but it would be "edited" by a shotgun, and "erased" by a rainstorm. <br>------------------------<br><br>We see a number of bee hives and agent K's hand covered with bees. However the area is devastated, there is no sign of other life and certainly no flowers from which the bees can harvest nectar.However, several assemblies with round discs are shown to be where the bees harvest, next to the cases of bees where they live. So they must have found ways to have bees harvest off something that is not a flower. <br>------------------------<br><br>While exploring the abandoned casino, K gives a casual one-handed spin to a roulette wheel. We never see the ball and various theories purport that it is not possible to launch the ball.<br><br>It is fully possible to pick up a ball sitting in the part of the wheel we cannot see due to the camera angle, and roll it and give the wheel a spin in one motion. <br>------------------------<br><br>"PAN AM" is seen on the side of a building; there is advertisement for "ATARI" and for "products made in CCCP" (the soviet union). The existence of all these is due to the fact that the movie plays in an alternate universe, not in ours. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Sapper Morton is in the pool checking on his grubs, it doesn't look like they could swim, so they'd all be on the bottom of the pool and he would be crushing them under his boots as he walked. It would be easy enough for the pool to have a metal grid, supported a few inches off the bottom ; on which he could walk., but reach through for the grubs. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Luv takes K to the room where the data files are stored, the heavy door jams about half way when opening. She then uses physical strength to open it with her hands (with no apparent effort), but she is wearing elegant shoes with heels on a slippery floor. It would be physically impossible for her to apply enough force on the heavy door to open it without having a good grip on the ground, regardless of her superhuman strength. She would normally slide away when trying.This being 2049, with advances in technology prompted by decades of litigation and compensation ; we can safely presume that such shoes have a means to "grip" at least artificial floors. That would be a trivial technical problem, compared to other portrayed technology : hover-cars, holograms that can see, instant showers, off-world travel, replicants etc. etc. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Deckard is struggling to free himself as the hovercar fills with water, his hair alternates between dry and wet, even after he puts his head underwater. <br>------------------------<br><br>The tritium radiation of the wooden horse figurine (the Trojan Horse) leads blade runner KD6-3.7 (Joe) directly to where Deckard has been hiding, but Deckard has been on the run and was already in hiding long before the birth event on 10th June 2021. So exactly how did the child being chased when at the orphanage, get the wooden horse figurine, and subsequently hide it? Either someone else transported the wooden horse figurine from Deckard to the orphanage, or perhaps Deckard left the wooden horse figurine with pregnant Rachael (N6FAA52318) as a unique gift for their child, or there is a large plot hole here.<br><br>It was Freysa, leader of the rebel Replicants, who (with Sapper) hid Ana Stelline after she was born. This must mean that Freysa had Deckard's complete trust, and it was she who transported the horse from him to his daughter after the radiation event but before young Ana hid the figurine. <br>------------------------<br><br>
